چکیده

Abstract Nowadays, multidrug-resistant (MDR) bacterial infectious diseases has become a thorny issue in the healthcare field. Owning to its intrinsic merits, photodynamic therapy (PDT) shows tremendous strengths fighting against MDR infections. However, most nanoplatforms exhibit unsatisfactory targeting efficiency towards bacteria and infection site, which may compromise bactericidal effect of PDT. Herein, we firstly reported bacteria-targeted collagen-based nanoparticle, named Ce6/Col/MM, for treating methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)-infected wound. Ce6/Col/MM was fabricated by wrapping chlorin e6 (Ce6)-loaded nanoparticles with macrophage membrane (MM), showing excellent activity good biocompatibility. In vitro studies demonstrated that could target then prominent antibacterial capacity planktonic MRSA under light irradiation. Furthermore, treatment MRSA-infected wound mice plus illumination resulted potent inactivation accelerated healing, accompanied favorable histological compatibility. Collectively, superior ability bacteria, effective potency minimal safety concerns, might be powerful nanoagent infections caused bacteria. Graphical

Multidrug-resistant bacterial infection in solid organ transplant recipients.

The most frequent complication from infection after solid organ transplantation is bacterial infection. This complication is more frequent in organ transplantation involving the abdominal cavity, such as liver or pancreas transplantation, and less frequent in heart transplant recipients. The sources, clinical characteristics, antibiotic resistance and clinical outcomes vary according to the tim...

An unusual pathway for the membrane wrapping of rodlike nanoparticles and the orientation- and membrane wrapping-dependent nanoparticle interaction.

Although rapid progress has been made in understanding the interaction of nanoparticles (NPs) with lipid membrane, little is known about the interaction between neighboring NPs on the membrane. With the aid of computer simulation techniques, in this work we systematically investigate the membrane mediated interaction between anisotropic NPs with at least one dimension with the size of several n...

Cost-Effectiveness of Treating Multidrug-Resistant Tuberculosis

BACKGROUND Despite the existence of effective drug treatments, tuberculosis (TB) causes 2 million deaths annually worldwide. Effective treatment is complicated by multidrug-resistant TB (MDR TB) strains that respond only to second-line drugs. We projected the health benefits and cost-effectiveness of using drug susceptibility testing and second-line drugs in a lower-middle-income setting with h...

Audiological Evaluation of Patients Taking Kanamycin for Multidrug Resistant Tuberculosis

Introduction: The incidence of multidrug resistant tuberculosis is increasing in developing countries. Aminoglycosides are an integral part of second-line drugs, however ototoxicity is a major limitation for their use. This study aims to determine the extent of hearing loss in patients taking one of the commonly prescribed drugs for Multidrug resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB), Kanamycin, at a Gov...
